3rd edition of Shouryagarh Food & Wine Festival concludes successfully
The third edition of Shouryagarh Food & Wine Festival was held from 6th to 8th July, 2018 and was organised to celebrate the 4th anniversary of Shouryagarh Resort & Spa, Udaipur. A brainchild of Rupam Sarkar, general manager of Shouryagarh Resort & Spa, Udaipur, the festival featured culinary demonstrations, workshops and competitions along with wine workshops and stalls by hospitality companies. Several executive and celebrity chefs along with celebrity bartenders and hospitality professionals from across the country participated in the event, which was conceptualised to promote hospitality in Udaipur and help young professionals showcase their talents on a grand stage and also promote the culinary and wine culture to Udaipurâ€™s residents.
The event saw the participation of general managers, F&B managers and chefs of various hotels. Other attendees includes UB Srivastava, MD of Parkland Hospitality, Prarthona Pal Chaudhuri, country manager of Remi Cointreau, Himanshu Rathore of Sula Wines, Tushar Mali, GM of Royal Retreat Resort & Spa , Udiapur, Chef Uttam , Executive Chef of Ramada, Udaipur, Chef Satish, executive chef, Royal Retreat & Spa, Udaipur and Devendra Parihar, GM of Lalit Laxmi Vilas Palace Hotel, Udaipur.
Ruchita Verma, director of Pearl Academy inaugurated the event, which began with the finals of the â€˜Udaipur Star Chef 2018 Competitionâ€™ â€“ the preliminary rounds were held earlier in June 2018. Chef Kislay Kumar, project head of juSTa Hotels India, Chef Love Mathur, corporate chef of HRH Hotels, Chef Kamal Singh, executive chef of Oberoi UdaiVilas and Rupam Sarkar were the judges. This was followed by a bakery and chocolate workshop by celebrity chef, Varun Inamdar.
The second day began with the final rounds of â€˜Udaipur Young Chefs Challenge 2018â€™, a professional culinary competition between 10 Udaipur hotels. The event was judged by Chef Sudhir Pai, chef and F&B consultant at Pai & Associates, Chef Yogesh Utekar, HOD, Culinary Arts, Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Mumbai and Antoine Lewis, F&B consultant and commentator. Chef Sudhir Pai also conducted a workshop on international grills, while Dhanashree Punekar, GM, operations of STIR and Shatbhi Basu, director of STIR Academy of Bartending, Mumbai held a workshop for cocktails and mocktail making.
On the third day, a Master Bartender Challenge, a professional bartending competition between nine Udaipur hotels was held, which was judged by Shatbhi Basu, Dhanashree Punekar and Antoine Lewis. It was followed by workshops by celebrity chef Amrita Raichand and celebrity chef Gautam Mehrishi.
Bibhor Srivastava, group publishing director of ITP Media Group inaugurated the award ceremony, where sponsors, participants and judges were acknowledged and presented with mementos for their contribution towards the event. The star attraction of the award was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Awards to Chef Gev Desai and Ms Shirin Batliwala for their outstanding contribution to the hospitality industry.
To ensure increased participation by Udaipur residents, the event was kept free and open to the public.
