IHG opens fourth Bangkok property

The Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park is the Group’s fourth hotel in Bangkok and the tenth among IHG hotels in Thailand variously located in in Hua Hin, Pattaya, Phuket, Cha-am, Phi Phi and Chiangmai.The 241-room Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park is located on the 21st to 32nd floors of the Ramaland complex in the Silom-Rama IV district. The hotel takes its name from Bangkok’s first public park and reportedly provides a panorama of sweeping views across the entire city. It replaces the Pan Pacific Bangkok. The hotel’s meeting and conference facilities, lobby and entrance will be renovated shortly to reflect hallmark features of the Crowne Plaza brand.

According to an IHG release, a feature of the Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park is the dedicated meetings spaces on the 21st floor of the hotel. There are five F&B outlets. “This hotel provides the perfect launch pad for the Crowne Plaza brand in Thailand.The location and business-oriented services and facilities – promising a great night’s sleep and intuitive business solutions – make it an ideal choice for the corporate traveller and meetings market. The hotel also showcases all the hallmarks of the Crowne Plaza brand” said Crowne Plaza Bangkok general manager General Mark Winterton.

IHG's director of operations for Thailand, Indochina and Maldives Alan Watts added, “The location is ideal for the business traveller, both for those visiting the Ramaland complex and for those who require easy access to the rest of the city,” he added.

Crowne Plaza currently has close to 80 hotels and resorts in the development pipeline in the Asia Pacific region. Globally, it has 376 hotels in 62 countries.

Within Thailand, IHG will open its 11th property in mid 2011 with the Holiday Inn Resort Mai Khao Beach in Phuket. Additionally, two new brands will premier in Bangkok over the next few years– the Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road and the Holiday Inn Express Siam, located in Rama 1. By 2013, IHG is expected to have the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express – fully operational in Thailand.
