Oman Air made its first strategic move into the hotel business with the acquisition of the Golden Tulip Hotel in Muscat a
few years ago. Now they are gearing up to expand their catering business and more hotels could also be brought into their
hospitality business unit .
To take this ahead the national carrier has brought on board a chief officer for the hotels & catering business unit who
will report directly to the airline's CEO. Roger Hodges who has been assigned the post has three decades experenience in hospitality.
"We will do more airline catering business by opening up to other carriers too," says Hodges, adding "We can look at
different revenue streams that we can tap, like from the school and hospital business to the military and embassy sectors,
which are in our local catering profile. We are looking at various ways including rebranding the existing product or re-
marketing as part of expansion."

Hodges also says that the Golden Tulip will be a four star international hotel. "We will also add some more hotels to our
portfolio as the demand increases," says Hodges.
