As part of Hyatt Community Grants, a philanthropic program that empowers Hyatt associated to guide charitable giving; Park Hyatt Chennai announced on the December 5, 2012 that it has awarded SPEED (Slum People Education and Economic Development) Trust with a US$ 17,500 grant to further the organisation’s efforts in education and personal advancement.
The Hyatt Community Grants encourages hotels around the world to identify and nominate local nonprofits for funding consideration through Hyatt Hotels Foundation. The program builds on Hyatt’s belief that no one better understands a community’s most pressing issues and their solutions that those live and work there.
Funding for the Hyatt Community Grants is provided by Hyatt Hotels Foundation, a donor-advised fund created in conjunction with the National Philanthropic Trust. In 2012, Park Hyatt Chennai will be among 26 Hyatt properties from around the world awarding more than US$ 300,000 in grants to nonprofits in their local communities. Since the program’s inception in 2008, Hyatt hotels have awarded more than US$ 1,350,000 to nonprofits organisations in 103 communities and 34 countries around the world.
