To celebrate World Earth Day, Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency Mumbai took up a ‘clean-up greenup’ campaign and began by inviting hotel guests to plant saplings.

The executive committee members and department heads also planted saplings to set a precedent to reduce pollution

Both the properties have declared their premises as a ‘No plastic bags’ zone and have instructed employees to not carry plastic bags. Instead, cloth bags made out of recycled and discarded pillows and bed sheets will be provided.

All back offices within the hotel shut the lights, computers and other equipment’s for an hour in order to save electricity and reduce e-smog.

The staff at both properties are clear in their objectives: “Though these seem like small initiatives we believe with an employee force of over 1000 employees we should be able to drive home the message to our teams and their families.”
