The first Swissotel in India is in New Town, Kolkata, has 147 rooms and atop a mall
Swissotel announced its first Indian hotel by signing a management contract with Kolkata's Ambuja Realty.
The 147-room hotel is in New Town near Kolkata and is being built at an estimated cost of Rs100 crore. Janauary 2010 is the stated opening target.
The contract is for a 10-year management term between Swissotel Hotels & Resorts and the Bengal Ambuja Housing Development Pvt Ltd, an Ambuja Group concern.
The hotel is actually on top of Ambuja Realty's City Centre mall under development in New Town.
Swissotel Hotels & Resorts Meinhard Huck president said he was keen to expand its footprint in other cities as well in India.
