With its main market, the US, still in some time away from recovery, Marriott is looking to its strengthening presence in Asia to return it to overall profitability.
Ed Fuller, Marriott International's president & CEO shared his company's view of Asia, specifically, India and China, during the Hotel Leader's Forum at the HIFI 2010 in Mumbai.
Between the two markets, Fuller says he is more positive of the leading role India is gradually expected to play in Marriott's recovery. Marriott's team here have been making rapid progress with strong pipeline of over 23 hotels planned till 2013 adding 5,602 rooms. This does not include the 20 properties for its new Autograph brand.
