South African hotel chain plans Indian venture

South Africa's The City Lodge Hotels intends to enter the Indian market with its three and four-star brands. Its first location is expected to be Mumbai.

"We see a good market here, therefore we plan to set up our first hotel here very soon. Over the next two years, we are planning to set up one of our hotels in Mumbai and then Pune," said Rose Bischoff, assistant sales manager of sister company Tours and Incentives at a travel event in Delhi this yesterday.

Operating across the South African region, The City Lodge has 45 hotels across four brands in the three, four and five-star categories. The brands are Courtyard, City Lodge, Town Lodge an road Lodge.
