Sarovar Hotels & Resorts has launched its first upscale full service property Optus Sarovar Premiere at Gurgaon, last month. The 80-room hotel is the group’s fifth property in New Delhi/NCR; two Park Plaza in Gurgaon and Noida, one Park Inn in Gurgaon, and one Portico in Nehru Place are already operational.
“With the opening of this hotel, Sarovar Hotels now offers accommodation to guests at various price points in Gurgaon. Furthermore, it also fills the ever increasing demand for business and leisure hotels in the capital and NCR,” said Anil Madhok, managing director, Sarovar Hotels & Resorts.
Sarovar is also coming up with six more properties in Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Vaishali, Hari Nagar, and Green Park area, before the Commonwealth Games starts later this year.

“We will be having a total of 11 properties operational in Delhi before the Games start. We feel Delhi has a demand for rooms and anyway, we have small properties of 50-to-100 rooms, so we can have a number of properties there. We are finishing them early to take advantage of the five-year tax holiday that the government is giving to hotels if they open before the CWG starts,” he added.
Moving forward, Madhok said their concentration would remain in the budget, mid-market and five-star segments. “We do five-star properties but we don’t go beyond that to manage any luxury property. Our focus would be on budget to five-star category,” he said.
Mainly running hotels under management contract, Sarovar is also building a couple of properties. “We have finished one owned property in Indore and would be opening another in Chandigarh this month. We have two sites in Chennai and we are waiting for approval to start construction,” Madhok added.
