Ministry of Tourism forms National Tourism Task Force; to hold a meeting soon for the industry’s revival
The task force will be headed by the Minister of State for Tourism (I/C), Govt of India.
The Indian Ministry of Tourism has constituted National Tourism Task Force for the revival of hospitality and tourism industry which has been adversely devastated by the on-going lockdown imposed in view of Coronavirus. The task force will be headed by the Minister of State for Tourism (I/C), Govt of India.
In an order issued on April 27, Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Rupinder Brar informed that the task force will include state tourism ministers, joint secretary level officers of the concerned central ministries, and representatives from associations like FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM, WTCII as well as heads of tourism and hospitality associations.
Given the severe impact of the outbreak on both tourism and hospitality industry, which majorly contributes to the GDP and employment rate of India, “its fast revival is of paramount importance,” the order said.
“The Ministry of Tourism shall hold the first meeting of the National Tourism Task Force shortly and make appropriate recommendations for the revival of the tourism sector in the country,” reads the order.
