Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas to debut in Mauritius
Anantara Mauritius Resort will be sited on the South Eastern coast and is being developed in partnership with Currimjee Jeewanjee & Co, one of the leading players in several sectors of the Mauritian economy.
Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spa recently announced that it will be soon opening a luxury property titled, ‘Anantara Mauritius Resort,’ which will mark the brand’s debut on the Indian Ocean Island. The new resort will be open for operations by September 2019 and will feature 164 guest rooms and suites, with eight luxury pool villas -two with two bedrooms and six with four bedrooms – which will be added in the first half of 2020.
The interior and architecture of the new resort have been created by award winning Ground Kent Architects, Australia, in collaboration with the Office of Global Architecture in Mauritius, alongside Abacus Design interior designers of Thailand.
The hotel includes a number of sustainable features, keeping in mind Anantara and Currimjee’s commitment to sustainability, which includes solar technology for water heating in all guest rooms, in order to reduce the usage on energy. Other green initiatives include planting endemic flora within the hotel landscaping, reusing water for irrigation and cleaning as well as incorporating recycled materials into resort decor. The property will be plastic straw-free, an Anantara standard, and where possible organic farming methods will be encouraged throughout its restaurant supply chain.
