Raghu Nair’s career path is an inspiration to aspiring hoteliers. He began as a bar in-charge; he meticulously climbed the ranks at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), excelling as Outlet Manager, F&B Director, and eventually as Executive Assistant Manager in the Middle East and India. This dedication and expertise were instrumental in Velankani’s successful transition from the IHG brand to its current independent portfolio, showcasing a collection of remarkable properties like the award-winning The Oterra Hotel (five-star deluxe), Otium Bangalore (four-star business), Otium Goa (four-star resort), and the trendy 46 Ounces Resto Pub & Microbrewery.
In his previous role as General Manager of The Oterra Hotel, Raghu Nair spearheaded an aggressive expansion strategy across India, encompassing a diverse range of hotels from budget-friendly options to luxurious escapes. He passionately advocates the creation of a “people-centric” work environment, which is evident in The Oterra’s recent recognition as the “Best Place to Work”.

Under his leadership, Velankani Hospitality Division follows the “net zero” vision, prioritising sustainable operations across its properties.
