Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray recently announced that the Chipi Airport at Sindhudurg district will be operational from May 1 which is the State’s 60th foundation day.
It was during a discussion in the Legislative Assembly; Thackeray made the announcement about the development of the coastal region. Besides, the Chief Minister has also directed the officials to conduct necessary trials.
The government will also be launching a submarine tour of the Konkan coast and turn sea forts of the region into tourist attractions. Backwaters of the Tillari Dam in Kolhapur district will be developed as a tourist destination, he said, adding that the coastal road in Konkan will also be expedited.
