IHCL, in partnership with Himalayan Retreat India LLP, signs a new Taj hotel in Dehradun
This will be the fifth IHCL branded hotel in the state of Uttarakhand
After Taj Corbett Resort & Spa and Taj Rishikesh Resort & Spa, The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) annouce the signing of a new Taj hotel in Uttarakhand at Dehradun.
Slated to open in April 2012, the 88 room hotel will have an all-day-diner, a specialty restaurant, a bar, a spa, and banqueting and conferencing spaces. Spread over 5.4 acres, the hotel boasts of a unique setting with the river Tons that flows through the site and overlooks hills with lush green foliage.
With the increasing influx of tourists in such destinations, IHCL is focussing on expanding as part of 'Aspiration 2022'. In 2019, the Company reinforced its iconic status by retaining the landmark Taj Mahal, New Delhi; renewed a long-term agreement for the legendary, Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur; and won the bid for The Connaught in Lutyens’ Delhi. Commencing April 2019, it will also take over the management of the famed 207 key Cidade de Goa. The Company entered a new segment, plantation trails and stays with the launch of Ama Trails & Stays, the first branded product in the homestay market in India. It signed a management contract with Tata Coffee for nine heritage bungalows in Coorg and Chikmagalur and will add two of its own bungalows in Goa by mid next year.
Commenting on the signing of this agreement, Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL said, “This signing is in line with Aspiration 2022 and its strategy of being present in all state capitals. Dehradun has huge potential with its tourism and commercial growth. With the addition of this hotel we will be opening a new Himalayan circuit that includes Rishikesh, Theog and Corbett.
