Trust Jeff Bezos to come up with innovative modus operandi to keep Amazon in the news. Amazon has now made it possible for the masses to book bus and train tickets and book hotels through Amazon India. The bus ticket booking is in collaboration with the MakeMyTrip-owned redBus. The move is an additional bonus to the ‘super-app’, who already has collaborated with Cleartrip for flight bookings and BookMyShow for movie tickets.

Amazon will get free access to its customers to redBus features such as bus service ratings by passengers and live tracking of buses and also get the bus number and contact information of staff prior to departure. The e-commerce major is steadily building a super app-like play in India through its payments platform Amazon Pay. In case customers have to cancel a ticket, they only pay the cancellation penalty as per policy defined by the operator and Amazon India does not levy any additional charges.

Customers can use ratings of a bus service by other customers as a guide to choose the best bus options available on their route. They can also track the live location of their buses and check expected arrival times at their boarding point.  Vikas Bansal, director, Amazon Pay said, "Over the course of time, Amazon has become the one-stop destination for the shopping and payment needs of our customers. We are excited to partner with redBus and move another step forward in making life easy for our customers."

Manoj Agarwala, Senior Vice-President, redBus, said, "We are excited to partner with Amazon to bring bus ticketing to its large customer base to further widen and deepen the penetration of online bus ticketing in our country. With this partnership, we are offering yet another avenue to our bus operator partners to distribute their inventory and help grow their sales and occupancy."

By tying up with IRCTC, RedBus and Booking.com, Amazon has now opened a plethora of opportunities to the world of tourism and travel. With India’s tourism and travel sector undergoing a revamp every now and then, this contribution by Amazon will be a boost not only to them but also to the general Indian masses that one way or the other depends on Amazon for their online needs.
