Tourism Minister of Kerala, Kadakampally Surendran recently announced that all the tourist destinations in their  state will be made differently-abled friendly by 2021.  Around 120 tourist spots have been identified by the government across the state in the first phase. Out of these, 98 spots have already been made completely differently-abled friendly whereas works on remaining centres were in progress.

A number of facilities, including special parking areas and toilet facilities will be made available for the differently-abled guests, so that they can enjoy a hassle-free holiday in the state. Besides this, special tour packages for the differently-abled will also be brought out under the Responsible Tourism initiative. According to the state tourism department, accessible ramps, special toilets, wheelchairs, walking sticks, folding walkers, crutches, special signages, tactile walkways, touch screen kiosks, Braille brochures and audio guides were some of the features provided at the differently-abled friendly destinations.
