Soft power: Tuting, Arunachal Pradesh is now under the peaceful Buddhist tourist circuit

This move is to bring more Indian, Nepal and China tourists to Tuting in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, an important Buddhist site and pilgrimage centre.

Buddhism tourism is one of the strongest USPs of India Tourism with the potential to attract a huge number of international travellers. India and China have the highest numbers of outbound tourists and when tourism itself is moving from product to experience, the rise of Buddhist tourism will push for innovative products and services.

Realising the potential of Buddhism tourism, Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh has announced the move to include Tuting in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, under the Buddhist tourist circuit which bring huge tourists from India and abroad.

Khandu said, “Tuting is going to witness huge increase in number of tourists as the place is an important Buddhist site and pilgrimage centre. The place is blessed by Guru Padmasambhava and is considered as one of the most sacred places for spiritual practitioners to meditate and practice dharma. The region is also popularly known as 'Pemakod'.

The Chief Minister said due to Pemakod being an important pilgrimage centre, the region would be included under Buddhist tourist circuit, a report from the Chief Minister's Office said.

Khandu also informed on the occasion that Arunachal is witnessing significant jump in revenue collection and informed that revenue in this coming Budget is expected to touch INR 2500 crore. He added that Arunachal has also recorded the highest percentage jump in GST collection in entire country. The Chief Minister further informed that Arunachal is also the highest receiver of share of states in central taxes under the 15th Finance Commission recommendations. He said Arunachal is the topmost gainer in the country with 28.5 per cent jump in share.

Khandu handed out an appreciation letter to the 23rd battalion of Grenadiers for vigilantly guarding the international borders in Tuting sector of LAC and also for extending valuable helps and assistance to the civil administration and the local population.
