Trending designs for contemporary restaurants

The concept of restaurants or dining at restaurants has dramatically changed over the last decade. Today, there is no dearth in the kind of cuisine or even the kind of atmosphere one would like to enjoy their meals at. This meant experimenting with the restaurant designs and themes that guests would appreciate. And, this was made possible with the choice of material and décor to achieve the desired look and feel for a contemporary restaurant.

Cafes

Today, there are cafés and bars that distinguish themselves with vibrant settings and colours that are more apt for the modern look. There is an emphasis on the kind of settings including the seating, lights, table cloth and of course, the floors that define the venue and what it’s offering. At such restaurants, the favoured choice of flooring today is the Terrazzo. Terrazzo marble is an engineered marble that offers both the sophistication of marble and the design of the contemporary.

Terrazzo flooring can be further beautified with the inlay technique for creating a fusion of two or more stones. Such flooring gives the restaurant a unique look and feel that is a mix of both traditional and modern. Bathrooms too can be decked with the Terrazzo for wall cladding and vanity applications to maintain continuity in design. Many restaurants also highlight the walls at the entrance to the dining area with stone art designs. Fluting patterns particularly on the Terrazzo marble are trending these days.

Cafes and bars

Typically, quite a few opt for a rustic ambience embellished with lighting fixtures and tables and chairs that are reminiscent of the old style, retro designs. One can go for grey or brown marble flooring for a stone or wooden look. It usually complements such interiors to offer the guest a cosy, feel-at-home kind of environment.

Engineered marble is hard, hygienic, less porous and can be polished to achieve a smooth, shiny effect and hence it is popularly installed in applications that demand durability with aesthetics.

Kitchen

The kitchen counters are usually built of quartz. Quartz products are a combination of cutting-edge design and innovative technology, ideal for countertops in kitchen applications for a stylish, urban look. Quartz does not corrode or discolour despite coming in direct contact with alkalis or acids or other regular kitchen spills. It also is resistant to heat and cold making it a perfect material for kitchen applications.

Luxury or high-end restaurants

Such restaurants prefer to exude opulence and what better than natural marble and stone to state it as a matter of fact. The settings are more muted but with motifs that are discerning. Right from the entrance to the bathroom, everything from flooring to wall cladding can be done with natural stone to render restaurants that touch of class and distinction. Natural stone wall clad can be further beautified by applying finishes to them like antique, leather or honed, doubling the appeal of the marble.

Bathroom walls, vanity tops and backsplashes can be curated with diverse marble choices for a wonderful guest experience. The serving tables and kitchen counters would typically be Quartz for its robustness yet striking look. It ensures that the stone does not wear and tear and is easy to maintain. The bar counter applications are mostly quartz in veined patterns. A quartz slab not only casts the right spell at the patron but also makes it super easy for the bartender to quickly and easily bring back the shine to the countertop.

Restaurants can create private spaces or theme-inspired dining just by dividing the spaces with designer natural stone walls which may be designed in floral, waves, leaf or fluted patterns. Some restaurants customize dining areas for guests. Such spaces use Terrazzo flooring for a modern look to appeal to the younger audience and white or beige marble in veined patterns for a subtle look for those who want to enjoy their meals in a serene, calm atmosphere.
