Just a gallop away from the iconic Bangalore Turf Club, Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel’s prime location offers breathtaking views of the captivating skyline of the city’s central business district. Following the launch of Renaissance Ahmedabad earlier this year, it is the brand’s first hotel in South India and is characterised by refined luxury and comfort.

Unsurprisingly, the design story that the address tells draws influences from the equestrian world. In line with the brand’s design philosophy – ‘look and look again’—life-sized horse heads greet guests at the entrance, making a unique first impression, while each of the 276 luxury rooms and suites are accentuated with paintings, posters, sculptures and carvings along similar lines. From onsite dining options and sophisticated meeting spaces to a rooftop pool and an assortment of venue options, style, whimsy and unparalleled service ensure satisfaction.

“Considering the fact that this is the first made-to-build Renaissance hotel in the country, the space was just perfect to create a lifestyle property that would intrigue the senses of the guests,” says spokesperson Mukhtar Bahlooli, general manager, Projects – Viceroy Hotels Pvt Ltd. “At the same time, each space has been made perfectly in line with the brand.” The design brief centred on an aesthetic that was contemporary; one that would make this property stand out from any other in the city – and so it does!

It offers everything one looks for in a perfect business hotel while also allowing guests to unwind in very distinctive lifestyle spaces. “There is no space where we have to compromise on guests’ comfort, keeping the brand belief of #ExpectTheUnexpected in mind,” Bahlooli shares proudly. “The idea for each and every aspect of the building design is clear. It’s purely ‘Renaissance’; very millennial and intriguing.”

The hotel houses four culinary outlets. Lush, a casual all-day dining restaurant, serves cuisines from across the world. The kitchen is innovative, as are the buffet spreads. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s a great place for family gatherings and professional meals alike. Cinnamon, located at the lobby level, is a one-stop destination for gourmet delicatessen items and sweet treats. Don’t miss their homemade gelato waffwiches, freshly-baked breads and a tempting selection of designer cakes, decorative pastries and hand rolled chocolates.

The R Bar embodies the essence of a classic bar while presenting its own fashionable twist on things. The stylish pub regularly plays host to live bands as part of the brand’s signature programme, RLife Live. Bringing whimsy to the bar is a life-sized wooden horse suspended from the restaurant’s ceiling, making for an Instagram-worthy visual.

Located next to the outdoor swimming pool on the third floor, Pool Bar offers a delightful break from the chaos of city life, with a healthy assortment of chef’s specials like detox salads and light finger foods, served along with the poolside favourites such as the frozen margaritas and cold infused fruit drinks. When you really want to relax, though, you could head straight to the hotel’s full service spa.

What’s more, six venues are spread over 12,680sq-ft of indoor and outdoor space. The property features the brand’s signature R.E.N. Meetings Program with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology and high-speed Wi-Fi. A team of dedicated event and wedding specialists do a wonderful job of assisting and organising events, large or small. An element of surprise and eccentricity comes with the innovative Channapatna toys and wooden blotters traced with horse imprints on all meeting-room tables, intended to spark unexpected moments of fun and creativity during meetings.

On the whole, the rooms at Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel could possibly be the most impressive. The hotel features one of the largest room sizes in its category in the city, with maximum rooms offering sweeping views of the Bangalore Turf Club. All rooms are thoughtfully designed with picture-perfect alcoves and knick-knacks, as well as modern amenities including multiple plug points and even a torchlight that switches on the moment it is taken off its holder. The four-fixture bathrooms are grand, complete with a bathtub and shower cubicle with accurate water temperature settings.

With a project of this scale that takes so much into consideration, there had to be hurdles for the design team to overcome. Bahlooli elaborates, “The most challenging aspect would be the timelines and the costs, since this project took a while to build – thus extending timelines and increasing costs.” These were overcome through constant involvement as well as innovative and locally-sourced elements like the beautiful Channapatna toys, native to Karnataka and handmade from wood and natural colours, which represent the artisans’ community in the state.

Plus, various paintings of horses are seen on either side of the corridors and in the restaurant, including a large portrait of the hotel owner’s horse. Other paintings, typically from South India, can also be found all over the property.

In terms of design, it becomes quite clear after staying here for a while, that the hotel is a treasure trove of sorts – a labyrinth of charming treats and surprises around every corner, to be discovered over time.
So, whether you’re in India’s Silicon Valley for work, play or a little bit of both, Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel is the place to be for a one-of-a-kind lifestyle experience.
