Nakul Anand wins Hotelier India Awards 2019's 'Lifetime Achievement Award'

Nakul Anand's environment-friendly initiatives had won him the ‘Green Hotelier’ award from International Hotel & Restaurant Association

11th Hotelier India Awards, Nakul Anand, ITC Ltd, ITC Group, Lifetime Achievement Award

Nakul Anand’s legacy as hotelier is the stuff of legends. As Executive Director on the board of ITC Ltd., Anand not just leads from the front as the company's hospitality arm expands its considerable footprint across different market segments, but also creates assets that can stand up to competition globally, even as he continues to be the voice of the industry in matters big and small.

His clarion call on ‘Responsible Luxury’ made ITC come up with green hotels and adapting sustainable formats. Today, ITC has 16 LEED Platinum certified hotels. His environment-friendly initiatives have won him the ‘Green Hotelier’ award from the International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IH&RA), a United Nations recognised worldwide industry body.

As a visionary, Anand focuses on the systems and processes that can change the hospitality industry and has a keen eye for emerging trends. It has helped him metamorphose ITC from a traditional hospitality group to one with a significant footprint in the fast-growing and ever-evolving luxury segment, which leverages technology effectively to offer interesting guest experiences. Yet, the group stays true to its core; ITC encapsulates the best of Indian culture and offers superlative F&B offerings. Among the many successful initiatives pioneered under his leadership is the ‘Food Sherpa’ programme; chefs scour their destinations for popular local food and serve them in the sanitised environment of luxury hotels as part of their the 'Love’ menu.

As a member of the National Tourism Advisory Council constituted by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; Chairman of the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality and Member of the Executive Committee of the Hotel Association of India, Anand is considered a thought leader, weighing in on several issues and concerns that hem the industry in. He has headlined ITC through several transformations, including the restructuring of the WelcomHotel brand to make it more contemporary. Anand has often been quoted as saying, “It is your attitude and not your aptitude that determines your altitude in life.” He has lived true to that mantra.

Hotelier India Awards is truly honoured to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Nakul Anand; a life dedicated to India's hospitality service.
