The ‘Sales Person of the Year’ award at the 11th Hotelier India Awards 2019 in the luxury to upper upscale category went to Saurabh Dube, from The St. Regis, Mumbai. Here, is a short excerpt where Saurabh Dube is voicing his thoughts on Hotelier India and a bit about himself.
The award from Hotelier India is the most respected recognition for a hotelier, extended by illustrious hoteliers and stalwarts of our industry. These awards act as an icing on the cake.
The most compelling factors for this win are the brand, culture and the people I work with. I would not have received this award if not for the brand that I belong to. I am as good as my team!
I am a strong believer in ‘Thou shall reap as you sow’. I work towards my goal without any sense of doubt and distraction.
My success is built not only on my contribution but by the mentors and the people that I surround myself with. I draw support and inspiration from peers, colleagues, subordinates and family.
The principle that is hardwired within me is, ‘Success is the biggest revenge’ — churn all your energy in achieving your goals, seek opportunities in adversities, accept challenges that have few takers, don’t be afraid to fail, and learn from them.
In the next two years, I see myself as a general manager of a luxury Marriott hotel in India and in four years, operating an international Marriott hotel.
I aspire to influence the policy making process to develop India’s hospitality infrastructure through certain leadership milestones within the hotel industry, before I make a move to a strategic role while working with the government.
