The ‘IT Person of the Year’ award at the 11th Hotelier India Awards 2019 in upscale to mid market category went to Thirupathi Gasiganti from Novotel & ibis Bengaluru Outer Ring Road. Here, is a short excerpt where we get to know a bit more about to Thirupathi as he shares his thoughts on Hotelier India.
I feel extremely privileged and fortunate to have been recognised by the wonderful fraternity of Hotelier India. This was the first time in my 12 years of working in the industry that I won. It makes me feel more responsible for ensuring that the IT department gains recognition.
Hard work and a ‘never say no attitude’ will never let you down; they have been the major factors behind my success. I can’t thank my supportive team and expert mentors enough, because of whom my professional journey has been quite fruitful.
My inspiration comes from Nilesh Patel who inspired me with his working style; Saikishore Adla, who taught me the value of hard work; Rambabu who instilled in me the 'Never Say No Attitude', and my mentors Maverik Mukerji, Ravi Khubchandani and Srinivas Sistla who have always supported me in all my endeavours.
My winning mantra is to be a successful professional, one has to be dependable, driven towards growth, and excel in executing and delegating effectively.
I aim to take on more managerial responsibilities in the next few years and potentially, even take the lead on major projects.
In the next 5 years, my goal is to become area level manager of South India.
If I have to map my future, I will use my every day work experiences to plan my goals accordingly.
One has to trust one's vision and believe in hard work and planning.
Heading the IT department in hotels has taught me the importance of communication between guests and the internal team, humility, character building, and the value of respect.
