The ‘General Manager of the Year’ award at the 11th Hotelier India Awards 2019 economy to budget category went to Sheetal Iyer from Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bengaluru Racecourse. Here, is a short excerpt where we get to know a bit more about to Sheetal as she shares her thoughts on Hotelier India.

The Hotelier India Award is considered as among the most prestigious and unbiased awards in the industry. The jury consists of industry veterans and stalwarts. Being shortlisted and then to finally actually win it is a dream come true. I am humbled and honoured to have received this prestigious accolade. It will undoubtedly boost my journey.

Hard work, consistency, determination, patience and tolerance are the key factors that have contributed to my win.

My outlook towards work is, “Stress doesn’t resolve issues, work and solutions do.” Then why create unnecessary pressure for you and your peers? I work in close coordination with all my colleagues and constantly look for ways to make things better.

My winning mantra is to offer people a path and a direction and allow them perform. Ultimately, every associate have alligned themselves to the same common goal. Set the expectations right and the performance will automatically follow.

I do not aspire to be in a particular position with timelines attached to these goals. Instead, I want to strive to achieve excellence in every opportunity that comes my way. Hard work and great performance yield results that automatically translate to bigger assignments/responsibilities.

I once desired to be an Air Force pilot. I entered the hospitality industry with a lot of reluctance. But I have never regretted the decision of having chosen this industry.
