The festival of Easter is one where food inspires and influences family and children bringing back childhood memories of Easter bunnies, egg painting and egg hunting sessions. Kicking off Easter celebrations, The Imperial New Delhi with Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Centre had organized an exciting Easter Workshop.
Children from various international schools and underprivileged tots from ‘Tara Homes’, were entertained with a host of fun activities, including egg painting, live cooking. They also feasted on an array of handcrafted Easter High Tea, specially created by Executive Chef Prem K Pogakula.
Vijay Wanchoo, Senior Executive VP and GM, The Imperial New Delhi said, “We are elated to bring in another event in partnership with Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre Delhi. I am also grateful to our supporting partner Sree Arts for joining us this year with an engaging and delightful painting session and would like to welcome all the lovely little guests from various international schools and tiny tots from Tara Homes – our specials guests, joining us to celebrate the occasion. As a memento, the children are presented with a certificate on the completion of the Easter workshop. The excitement doubles with a beautiful ‘Easter Tree’ installation crafted by our Housekeeping team, to hang the painted eggs at La baguette- our French patisserie, bringing alive the magic of the occasion.”
Dr. Mariann Erdo- Director Cultural Counsellor stated that Easter is one of the biggest religious feast in Hungary, after Christmas. On Christmas, Hungarians as many other Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ – on Easter, his resurrection.
“Many Hungarian traditions are related to this special time of the year. It is our endeavor to bring some Hungarian Easter fun with this unique Workshop in collaboration with The Imperial New Delhi. In Hungary, the eggs are painted using Hungarian motifs to decorate the special Easter ‘tree’ and are also given to the boys coming over the girls’s place and sprinkling them with water or perfume. The special Easter cake, which we are preparing with the children during the workshop is usually cut and eaten on Easter Sunday the day of Christ resurrection. Liszt Institute hopes that painting, baking, laughing together will bring the joy of Hungarian Easter to all of us in India!”
The afternoon saw actor Boman Irani visiting to double up the joys of the kids at the workshop, egg-citing painting and cook out sessions, Easter special high tea and hand crafted giveaways by The Imperial chefs. The little guests had many reminiscences to take home, in this fanciful fun pre- Easter celebration at The Imperial.
