It’s time to step out and celebrate the good times ahead at Monkey Bar and dig into a delicious menu of small plates, replete with classic flavours, inspired by food cooked in different homes across the country at this time of year, coupled with mighty cocktails shaken and stirred, music, dance, and a generous dose of the festive spirit. Reinventing Indian classics and adding a unique touch is what makes this menu so special.
From Mangalorean Chicken Indad with Sannas from the Mangalorean Christian homes, Roast Duck Mappas from Syrian Christian community, East Indian style Bottle Masala Shrimp Pan Roll to the Goan inspired Santa and Pita Walk Into A Bar, to Anglo Indian style mince filled and The Anglo-Indian Baked Fish– we’ve zipped across the country to bring you this very special and truly heart-warming Great Indian Christmas Feast. Add to that our selection of heady cocktails like Home for the Holidays, Mulled Wine and East India’s Khimad – and it promises to be a fun, festive feast like no other. So, begin your festivities with your friends, family and loved ones at Monkey Bar. No celebration is complete without food and drink andthearray of delicious small plates inspired by the soul satisfying dishes from different homes across the country; familiar yet new to discover flavours that bring with them the proverbial Monkey Bar twist! That’s not all, it’s going to be a Ho-Ho-High Christmas with heady cocktails including Natal Mule, with vodka and jamun juice and The Red Hot Santa tini. You won’t miss being Home for The Holidayswith this festive cocktail, made with gin, cranberry, and lemon juice with a splash of angostura bitters. Our cocktails will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling, even if you haven’t been good, all year round!
Begin with the Mangalorean style sweet and sour Mangalorean Chicken Indad served with sannas to mop up all that gravy. If you are vegetarian – try the Silken Tofu and Assorted Vegetable Indad. For a sumptuous feast dig into the hearty, Roast Duck Mappas inspired by the Christmas special from the Syrian Christian community kitchen, with black pepper, a special garam masala mix, coconut, and tempered with curry leaves. Another Kerala inspired dish on our festive menu is the Monkey’s Erachi Pidi – spiced b**f cutlets with a yogurt curry. Order a portion of the East Indian style Bottle Masala Shrimp Pan Roll served with mango ginger chutney – with a fun twist to yet another Christmas must have that’s found its way to our menu.
They have a version of the Pan Rolls stuffed with for the vegetarians too. What’s a Christmas feast without the Anglo-Indian Baked Fish served with a Monkey Bar style curry sauce. Who is up to try the Goan-inspired Santa and Pita Walk Into A Bar – pita pockets stuffed with vindaloo and cured smoked ham served with slaw and a green apple and jalapeno chutney. Go for the potato chops stuffed with spiced lamb mince and topped with Anglo Indian “Ball Curry,” sauce in our Potato Chop Bruschetta.
With the party mood on, drinks can’t be far behind; to keep you in good cheer and keeping the gastropub and holiday spirits aloft, Monkey Bar has some amazing new festive cocktails specially crafted for the season. Kick off the evening with Butter Me Up – a festive concoction of cinnamon infused butter rum, and homemade apple cider, served warm; East Indian Khimad – a lightly spiced sweetened liquor spiked with cardamon, cloves and black jaggery syrup, a heady mix of dark rum and gin, topped with hot water; We’ve got Home for the Holidays for everyone who is missing family- with a stir of gin, cranberry & lemon juice, splash of bitters and egg white. If you want to spice up the festivities, we recommend you try The Red Hot Santa Tini -chili infused vodka, a hint of cocoa, chocolate, cream, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Toast the holiday season with the Christmassy Mulled Wine – our concoction of spice infused red wine, brandy, honey, and orange slices! How about a twist to a signature with Natale Mule – a pomegranate juice spiked with a splash of vodka and jamun juice, topped with ginger ale. Doesn’t that sound amazing! And don’t end the evening without a glass of X’Mas Pinag– our version of the quintessential Goan Christmas drink with black jaggery, vodka and brandy, topped with soda and a pinch of black salt.
