Shefs at the Leela is the first of-its- kind event held across India honouring ladies whose unique spin on their desi roots is making everyone sit up and take notice all over the world

The Leela Palace Bengaluru and Dean with us (Rupali Dean and Akanksha Dean) brings to you an out of the world sit-down dinner on the 8th of October 2022, and a Brand Masterclass on the 7th of October 2022 along with acclaimed Chef Zafar Ali, aiming at celebrating Indian Heritage to its finest, by celebrating Women and Indian produce, but this time with the added excitement of not one, not two, but four highly skilled and creative women chefs. Shefs at the Leela is the first of its kind event held across India honouring ladies whose unique spin on their desi roots is making everyone sit up and take notice all over the world. These women range from intrepid pioneers to overhauling their traditions across the globe.

  • Aarthi Sampath
Chef Aarthi Sampath.

Aarthi Sampath is a New York-based renowned chef, restaurant consultant, food truck expert and TV personality, one of the industry’s rising stars, now gaining popularity with her stint as judge on MasterChef Tamil. Sampath’s control over her vision and passion for Indian cooking has brought her into several unique spaces. Her perspective makes her Indian cooking unique. She has a deep respect for quality ingredients as they are the backbone to a dish. Robust, bold flavours are her style. She also raises awareness and talks about how food is so crucial in creating equality in the world. Sampath’s USP is awareness and sensitivity.

National Award Winner for the Best Lady Chef 2015- 2016 presented by the Ministry of Tourism. Represented India on Netflix- The Final Table. Labelled by Marco Pierre White as “The Girl with Gold In Her Fingers”. She attributes her success in a male-dominated industry to her genuine love for food. In a career spanning 14 years, Chef Amninder Sandhu has received a National Award for the Best Lady Chef and come to be known as the ambassador of Indian cuisine.

A Caterer, Food Expert, Northwest Frontier and Himachali Pop-up Specialist, 1st Runner Up on the food reality show – Grilled, Miss Shimla 2005, Director – Host Relations at Indian Food Trail and Founder of A Girl From The Hills. she is the favoured choice for catering for both Bollywood celebrities and corporate honchos and has a full-fledged catering setup in Bombay that can cater up to 2000 people at a time. She was recently awarded the Best regional cuisine kitchen by Times Food and Nightlife for Kanak by Sherry.

Aman Dosanj is a former footballer who made history as the first British Asian to represent England at any level. From footballer to edible storyteller, she is known for her ability to educate, connect and tell stories through food. Working with organic farmers and producers, she creates edible adventures in unexpected places through The Paisley Notebook in the Okanagan Valley (British Columbia, Canada). Grounded by Slow Food philosophies and social justice work, the self-taught cook was listed by The Globe & Mail as ‘one of Canada’s next star chefs’ in 2020.
