“We faced minor problems, as with any new initiative. There are certain aspects of the GST directive that are currently not clear regarding services at the hotels. Upgradation of a large part of the systems as well as informing our guests and educating them about the new tax structures on their existing bills was initially challenging. Public information on GST and guest facing communication from the authorities would assist hotels in further simplifying the structure for our guests and vendors.
Our finance team and the IT team along with our commercial team have come together to manage the implementation of GST at our hotels across the country. The teams have been involved in providing guidance to all hotel staff on ensuring that future billing for our guests are effortless.
At the same time, utilisation of the laid-out GST procedures has simplified our procedures of serving our clients which are spread across India. With each company providing us their GSTIN numbers, tracking and updating our source of business has become much simpler, thereby assisting us in forecasting and accordingly better understanding our customers.
GSTIN numbers from our vendors has made tracking of our vendors much easier, with pricing and valuation of products and services much simpler as well as transparent.”
