Son of a humble farmer, Chef A Rupeshwar Rao began his journey as a hall boy in a small restaurant about 19 years ago. “Because of my unyielding financial situation, I decided to become a chef,” he says. Today, as Head Chef of Fairfield by Marriott, Visakhapatnam, he has worked tirelessly to promote Andhra cuisine at a global level.

His contributions to the culinary world bagged him ‘Chef of the Year’ award given by Andhra Pradesh Tourism. His next big assignment will add another feather to his cap. He has been chosen to present Andhra’s culinary heritage on a global platform. He has the responsibility to cook for 250 delegates—an audience of Prime Ministers, ambassadors and top business legends, at the DAVOS World Economic Forum, in January 2019. Chef Rao says his biggest strength lies in his ability to think positive.
