The hotel was evacuated safely before the collapse. Hence, no injuries were reported

A three-storey hotel collapsed amid heavy downpour in Uttarakhand, which has led to landslides, mudslides and flash floods in several districts. The hotel, comprising 30-35 rooms located in Kedarghati Rampur, came crashing down like a house of cards within seconds, after late night’s heavy downpour.

The incident was captured on camera by the locals. The hotel inmates were evacuated safely before the collapse. Hence, no injuries were reported. Meanwhile, the Kedarnath highway was closed due to incessant heavy rains, leaving travellers and pilgrims stranded at multiple locations.

Uttarakhand has been receiving heavy rains for the past several days, triggering landslides, claiming lives in rain-related incidents. Rainwater flowed down the steps of Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, located near Dehradun, after heavy rain lashed the area.

All the districts will continue to experience downpours till Friday and are on a yellow alert.
