The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has signed an MoU with MakeMyTrip to promote tourism in the state. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Principal Secretary of the Department of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, Mukesh Kumar Meshram; Special Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh, Eesha Priya; Director of the Department of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh, Prakhar Mishra; and MakeMyTrip representative Sameer Bajaj at the Tourism Directorate, Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative aims to promote tourism and facilitate tourists in the state. Under the terms of the MoU, MakeMyTrip will work as a strategic partner with the government, providing insights on consumer trends, tourist preferences, and supply-side information that will aid the department in future policy-making.
After the MoU was signed, Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary of the Department of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, said, “Uttar Pradesh has immense tourism potential, and MakeMyTrip will be a partner in realising this potential. Travellers search for various information on the internet before and during their trips. Search engines reveal whether a tourist’s interest leans towards eco-tourism, adventure tourism, spiritual tourism, etc. MakeMyTrip will prove to be helpful in this regard.”
He further stated, “Tourists often explore nearby areas after reaching their destination and promote local products by purchasing them. MakeMyTrip will assist such tourists and create packages based on this information. He also mentioned that tourists like to travel during holidays and those looking for something new will be attracted to wellness tourism. The MoU signed between the Tourism Department and MakeMyTrip will benefit tourists and also help formulate future policies in favour of tourists.”
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “UP is a treasure trove of diverse experiences. This partnership will prove to be a milestone. It will help us create effective plans for the future by considering travellers’ preferences. Leveraging MakeMyTrip’s platform and expertise, we are eager to welcome visitors.”
MakeMyTrip’s Co-founder and Group CEO, Rajesh Magow, stated, “We are delighted to enter into this strategic partnership with UP Tourism. We attempt to collaborate with UP Tourism, leveraging insights and supply depth of hotels and homestays of our platform to help grow tourism in the state. I am confident that this unique collaboration between the public and private sectors will help achieve our shared objectives.”
