Mexican-style quick service restaurant (QSR) brand Taco Bell will debut in India sometime in the first quarter of this year. Spread over 3,000-3,200 sq.ft area, the restaurant chain will open its first outlet at the Mantri Square mall in Bengaluru.

This would be the third brand of Yum! Restaurants International (YRI) which also runs 141 Pizza Hut and 72 KFC stores in India.

“Taco Bell is famous for its tacos, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items, at very affordable prices. In the initial couple of years, we plan to directly invest in four-to-five restaurants, all within Bengaluru to begin with,” said Vinod Mahboobani, vice president, business development, YRI.

YRI has very aggressive plans for India as it is looking to open about 1000 outlets under the Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell brands, employing 50,000 staff, by 2015.

“KFC will be the lead brand in our development strategy, and will be spreading across all the major metros and Tier II cities. With Pizza Hut, our intention is to upgrade the restaurant look and to expand our menu in India. We are targetting India’s organised food and beverage market, which is growing rapidly, and we are confident to achieve the targetted 1000 store mark for our company by 2015,” Mahboobani added.
